Fortune favours the bold

Fortune is an abrupt phenomenon that happens to everyone, but nobody has any control over it. It is rightly said that, Fortune favours the bold'. A person who is brave enough to take revolutionary steps in his life, work patiently and enthusiastically towards the goals set by him, fortune would surely favour him.
History is filled with such inspiring examples, with events and with individuals who dared to dream different and high, worked out for achieving that extraordinary goal and thus, their luck favoured them. When we turn back the pages of history, we find a social reformer, a freedom fighter and an inspirational figure of RAJA RAM MOHAN ROY, who had a smooth life despite of India being a British colony. But that was not all for him, the social evils present in the Indian society irked him. The practice of Sati made him feel hopeless about the rich and diverse Indian land. But, he dared to dream of an improved society with women living a dignified life with their head held high. Raja Ram Mohan Roy fought against rituals and prejudiced customs, and left his marks on the sands of time.
It can be very aptly said that success never adjusts itself to accommodate someone. But, we need to raise our own standards to taste success. When we go back to the colonial period, who would have thought that the so called 'Snake Charmers' would be able to fight against the mighty Britishers? It was the will power of our freedom fighters, the bold steps of our social reformers and the persistence of Indian masses to collectivise themselves and challenge the British colonial rule. As it is said, 'Rome was not built in a day'. Similarly, India did not gather courage overnight to fight back the British. The Indians had dreamed of a free India, they worked upon their dream and achieved it when the right time came.
Another great example is of CSE 2014 topper IRA SINGHAL. Despite of being a specially abled person, she dreamt of join civil services. Ultimately she fought all odds and set a great example for each one us. Her sheer persistence, her hard work and will power helped her stand at the top! Had she thought solely of luck and fortune, she would have definitely missed the train. But Ira Singhal proved it right that, 'Success is not a free gift, that falls into anyone's lap if he just wishes for it. He must work hard, bravely face all the hurdles and overcome danger."
People around us us are usually modest enough to give most of the credits of their success to fortune. But when we look closely, we find that they made each and every moment count and worked hard with full dedication. Like, it was in the WORLD CUP OF 1983! Indian cricket team was considered the underdogs who would not be able to emerge victorious against giants like Australia, England and West Indies. Who would have thought that they would bring home the world cup? It was only with their persistence dedication and the will to achieve high that the Indian team could become the WORLD CHAMPIONS.
To conclude, we all must have read the famous poem by Robert Frost, which says-
'Two roads diverged in a wood, and I-
I took the one less traveled by, and that had made all the difference."
Here, the road less traveled are the goals that we set for ourselves and once achieved become benchmarks for others. Thus, we can say, fortune has a fine habit of smiling at the person who dares to achieve his goals.
